Making Sure Your Shower Screen Panels Stay Hygienic

As a part of your home that's essential for helping you stay clean, your shower requires a little attention from time to time. Because it's the place where you ditch most of your dirt at the end of the day, it's likely to gather grime easily. One area that you may overlook is your shower screen panels. From the glass itself to the edge, every element of it has the potential to harbour dirt and grime. If you want to make sure your shower screen panels are looking pristine for as long as possible, here are some tips.

Squeegee After Each Shower

Each time you scrub yourself to achieve fresh and clean skin, you're splashing your dirt onto your shower screen panel. Although this doesn't warrant a full scrub after each shower, you should squeegee the panels and rinse them every time you wash. To make it easier for other people in your household to do so, try using a squeegee that you can hang on the wall of your shower. Move it in a single downwards direction against the pane, then rinse the bottom of the panels with hot water and let the dirt drain away.

Use Antibacterial Spray

When you are performing your deeper shower clean, make sure you use a spray that has antibacterial and antiviral properties. Viruses and bacteria can soon gather in your shower, so you need to do what you can to banish them. Make sure you use a fresh sponge or a cloth that has been hot washed each time you perform a deep clean too. To ensure you're not neglecting the areas where dirt and grime can gather, dedicate a toothbrush to scrubbing corners and edges and make sure you rinse it under hot water between each use.

Tackle Moveable Objects

If you have hygiene products, removable shelves and sponges that are close to your shower screen panel, make sure you refresh and clean them periodically. Each month, review what's in your shower and see whether it's worth throwing it away. Items you should throw include plastic bottles that you haven't used for a while. Anything else that's movable, make sure you clean it before placing it back into your shower. In doing so, you'll reduce the number of surfaces where dirt can travel from one place to your shower screen.

Lift Tough Dirt With Baking Soda

If there are edges near your shower screen that you struggle to reach with your normal cleaning tools, add baking soda to them, follow it with vinegar and allow it to fizzle for a little while. The fizzing action should lift some of the dirt. Give the area a scrub using a cotton bud or toothbrush, then rinse it out with hot water. As a result, they'll look sparkling and will carry less grime.
