What Is a Windscreen Tint Strip?
Tint strips that go on windscreens are narrow bands of a tinted material. This material is stuck on to the top part of your windscreen, leaving the rest of the glass clear. When the tint is in place, you'll have a dark band along the top of the windscreen. These products are also sometimes known as glare or visor strips.
What Are the Benefits of Windscreen Tints?
Glare can be a significant problem when you drive at certain times of the day. If the sun is high or even when it is setting, then it may shine brightly right across the top of your windscreen. This can make driving difficult. Sun coming in this area hits you right in the eyes. If you have glare coming in, then you can't see out of your windscreen properly.
Your driving may be impaired if your vision is blocked by the sun or by glare. You may also have a higher chance of having an accident if you're tempted to take a hand off the wheel and your attention off the road to try to dig out your sunnies so you can see more clearly.
If you're exposed to glare for long enough, then you may also get a headache while you're driving. Having the sun blasting straight at you will make you squint in your struggle to see through the glare. This could strain your eyes.
A windscreen tint strip is there for these moments. The tinted strip won't bother you or affect your vision when the sun isn't a problem. However, as soon as the sun hits that part of the windscreen, the tint deflects the glare and keeps the sun out of your eyes. You'll be able to drive more safely and comfortably.
You may also like the look a tint strip gives your car. This subtle band can look quite striking and sporty.
